Say hello to my new Makeup Art Cosmetics purchases for the quarter. :)

On the left is the Veluxe eyeshadow, "Samoa Silk." ($12.50 US) To the right, meet Cream Colour Base in "Pearl." ($14.50 US)

Okay I probably got suckered into buying the Pearl. I intended only to buy the Samoa Silk, it was on my mind for quite a while beforehand. But the SA showed me how to intensify eyeshadow colors by using Pearl as a base to whiten the eye area.

I can admit it's just plain fun to use.

Here is a demo of some Samoa Silk over some Pearl base. I also dabbled in some The Body Shop "Damson" eyeshadow but it doesn't show much.

Samoa Silk itself does not show much but it makes my eyes look much bluer than they really are.

Later on that day, I picked up a L'Oreal Le Grand Kohl eye pencil in "Raisin." I had it in mind to do my own "Nars Babylon" eyeshadow duo look...not a duplicate of course (the orange shade in the Babylon duo is shimmery, champagne-y where Samoa Silk is utterly matte). Still I was after an orange and purple eye look, inspired by Dain going on and on about Babylon :) and Carol doing her own orange & purple thing.

Here is the Raisin lining the outer upper lids, with the same Samoa Silk/Pearl base.

Here is Samoa Silk without the base. It looks softer than before.

I used a Sonia Kashuk medium eyeshadow brush...it's cheap and it's great, it's the brush I use most anyway. I put Samoa Silk on lids and crease, blending it up a little past the crease.

Used the L'Oreal "Raisin" to line the upper outer lids. (You don't have to use this pencil of course, just find a purple pencil or shadow you like.)

Put a little The Body Shop "Damson" shadow in the outer crease, using my Sonia Kashuk angled crease brush (again, cheap and works). Likewise, you need not rush out to buy TBS Damson. What you're after is a purple eyeshadow, so it could be MAC Trax, Sonia Kashuk Plum, whatever plum shadow rings your bell.
