I forgot to mention how many sites were selling "cures" and "treatments" for adult acne. Some of them pulled up when I was searching for my own blog, i.e. those sites used my blog's name inside their content.
I do not advocate any of these sites' promises. I don't take any of the stuff myself. I don't go to a dermatologist anymore. The last time, was years ago. I found a reference to Differin in my 2002 adult acne blog...I don't remember getting anything from a derm since then. Differin as an all-over acne treatment, freaked me out. It can't be beaten as a spot treatment, but it didn't do anything for my face back when it was still covered with acne. All it did was shred my skin, hence the freak-out, hence...that is probably when I concluded that the approach of your average dermatologist was simply to prescribe whatever was on the market...rather than delve into the causes of acne and start there.
