~ Hazel ~

greendragon

Eyes: true hazel, i.e. lightish golden brown with a bit of green. Somedays, my eyes look more like a slightly brown golden green.

Hair: light golden brown

Skin: I think I have it figured out. Fair, yellow undertones, pink overtones.

Hazel eyes, I've found, look good with most colours. You just need to go with your overall colouring.

My fave colour to use is purple. All shades, lavender, lilac, mauve, plum... It brings out the gold mostly. Some good ones are:

MAC Mauvism (really really makes my eyes pop) -- Soft mauve with metallic violet shimmer
MAC Quarry -- Soft muted plum brown
Beauty Box something or other that Audrey sent me -- soft mauve with a bit of a grayish tint as opposed to a brownish tint
CD Miss Dior duo, the dark colour -- dark eggplant

Greens also look very good with my hazel eyes.
MAC Fiction -- Muted green with shimmer
MAC Overtint Green -- this was LE so I can't find the description; it's a soft light green. Neither blue-y nor yellowy. A cool colour rather than warm.

Blue also can look very nice.
MAC Fade -- Soft bright blue with subtle shimmer
MAC Contrast -- Intense purplish blue flecked with blue shimmer (ok I see a navy blue that pulls more to the purple side than the green side)

Pinks and reddish colours can look great to bring out the green but with my skin colour, I have to be very very careful not to look like I've been crying or sick (MAC Swish makes me look like that). So far only a few have worked well.
MAC Yogurt -- Soft pale pink
MAC Sketch -- Intense burgundy plum flecked with red shimmer
Nars New York -- Not a red colour exactly but looks red on me. A bit browner and more plum than Sketch. Matte.

Yellows and Oranges do NOT look good with my skin so I'll pass on those... Peaches are best when they have a touch of pink to make them a little cooler (for my skin at least). This is my favourite.
MAC Hush -- Soft peach duochrome with pink opalescent shimmer

Browns, grays, and their variations are always good. Practically all shades. At least, I've never found a brown or gray that I couldn't pull off.
Stila Bohemian Cafe -- the light colour is a greyish light light shimmery taupe-y colour; the medium one (my fave of the trio) is a mauvy medium shimmery brown; the last one is a dark mauvy shimmery brown.
MAC Mystery -- Muted plummish brown
MAC Malt -- Soft pinkish-beige
MAC Patina -- Muted taupe brown with golden shimmer
MAC Club -- Muted reddish brown duochrome with green opalescent shimmer
Nars Notorious -- medium gray. No undertones that I can see. Just gray.
MAC Haux -- Soft muted rosy brown

MMU "Dragonfly" in crease-----------Extra-subtle gold/mauve shimmer in a dark burgundy-plum/brown base.
MMU "Origin" to highlight-----------A satin-shimmered base/highlight shade in super pale peach and beige tones.

Garden Botanika "Vineyard" eyeshadow trio---Lovely , One color is a light violet, the other is a tanzanite ceylon blue sapphire color, the last is a white shimmer.

Garden Botanika "Pansy" eyeshadow---Beautiful lilac- wisteria color. Looks like it could be worn by itself.

Garden Botanika "Azuki" eyeshadow---Unusual but quite pretty. . Alexandrite gemstone color. Looks great with Garden Botanika Rose shadow-- a shimmery light rose-pink.

~ Green ~

goopfiend

I'm a golden blonde with ultra fair, cool skin and my eyes are a crazy concoction of colors: blue around the edges, green with gold flecks in the center.

Pinks and cool mauves definitely look the best on me. Faves include Revlon Iced Mauve, Revlon Skinlights loose powder in natural light as a wash, and Chanel's Triple Color Crayon in Grape used REALLY slightly to contour on minimal makeup days. That color makes my eyes so green it'll make my husband do a double-take.

Other colors that work well are Stila Puck, Prescriptives Venus and Prescriptives blush in Mystic. Max Factor Fawn is another staple for contouring. Maybelline's Chill the Champagne seems to be a cool enough yellow for me to use as well.

Another recent discovery is Clinique's the Blues Duo. I use the darker shade to line the outer corners and countour slightly. The lighter shade - it shows up lavender on me - goes on the lid. Wow. Never thought blue shadows would look good on me. I'm also liking Max Factor's Sunset Scene as a contouring shadow applied really sparingly.

The only liners I'll use (which isn't very often) are L'oreal's Khaki pencil and Maybelline's Plum Smoke (I think that's the name).

Shadows I can't wear? Anything with a bronze or a warm tone makes my eyes actually sink in - I don't get that one. I've also avoided greens - they look like overkill on me and not very natural.

Chris

Hair Color: Dark Brown - neutral at moment. Occasionally go with auburn highlights but that just exaggerates eye color.

Eyes: Green. Deep green rims then medium jade green shot with gold.
No blue tones. No brown tones.

Skin color: Fair. Sometimes ivory. Mac NC20. PPP. Occasionally redness in cheeks but overall neutral - not too yellow, not too pink.
Can wear the occasional cool color but everything pops with warm tones.

If I really want to pop the eye color I would go with a red based color such as Mac Sable or Stila Barefoot Contessa or Stila Twig. That makes the green stand out like nothing else. It's a bit much for me though so I use those subtly - blended over a neutral base tan-brown like Mac Malt. Or as liner.

Mac Sable - red based bronze brown shimmer
Stila Barefoot Contessa - same but more subtle texture so not as dramatic as Twig or Sable - also shimmer
Stila Twig - red based copper shimmer

Also to pop my eye I can use an olive green with gold shimmer. It duplicates the eye color and seems to extend it. Hard to find the right one. Mac Rosemary and Thyme liner is one. Nat Robbins Khaki liner is another. Same color - dark olive with gold shot.
For powder color - Shu Uemura olive or even a deeper forest green like Mac Fiction. Blend over a vanilla base such as Mac Brule or a peach such as Stila Bouquet.

Mac Fiction - deep forest green shot with gold shimmer
Shu Uemura olive - matte olive green
Mac Brule - warm vanilla matte - good as base or neutralizer for warm skin tones.
Stila Bouquet - it's MAC Yogurt gone peach. Subtle peachy-warm based matte

Typically I play off my eyes though and go with a taupe (nice cross between the brown and the green), brown or bronze, a warm purple or a warm gray.

Beloved taupe - my staple. I always know a warm taupe will work. Especially if it has a green base. There are many versions of taupe and they can work on almost anyone.

Stila Puck - subtle shimmer, brown gray taupe - can be a wash or go deeper with layering.
Stila Grace - green brown taupe
Cargo Fiji - Grace stepped up a level - more brown
Benefit Scrapin the Rail - silver shot taupe cream shadow
Revlon Thundering wet/dry - my original taupe. Still works. taupe with a slight gold undertone when wet. Not too green, not too brown.

Layer taupes with a decent base or play up with golds - Stila Wheat, Mac Shroom, Benefit Nina's Nugget.

Browns everyone knows about. The basics.
Mac must make more browns than anything else.
I am not loyal to one brown - they are fairly interchangeable.
Prefer a brown without a lot of red. Also don't want a muddy mess on my hands.
Clinique TouchTint Sable Shimmer - gold shot medium brown
Mac Mulch - a deep bronzey brown, veers toward red but not much
Mac Fake - neutral dark brown - good as liner or on lids. Matte
Revlon Brown Suede powderliner - a perfect medium brown neutral liner (much recommended to brown haired girls by Josie)

Purples are tough. They look amazing when done right on green eyes but can make you looked bruised or sleepless as well.
I prefer warm based purples - purples shot with gold or not too blue purples. Cool tones can work but must be applied with more consideration.
Mac Trax -plum w/gold shot
WTF Attraction - purple taupe
Chanel Quadra in Vanities - Dusk is perfect lavender w/gold shimmer
Loreal Beauty Queen - gray based lavender - shimmery loose powder (learned that Loreal Citrine is similar color in pressed form - it can be made more gray as well by pairing with liners, bases - smart lady named Erin figured that out)

Quest is always for grays and charcoals that will work without creating sleepness-night look. Cool based grays seem to do that. Or grays with a gold shot - few and far between. Grays that lean purple can work.
I have found a few that I wear religiously with certain outfits and colors.
Jane EyeZing Mythology - gold shimmer gray - perfect alone worn with a liner or can be used as base
Stila Fog - matte light gray - not too green or charcoal
Stila Cloud - light shimmer gray
Stila Shore - shimmery, lavender blue based gray
Sonia Kashuk Platinum - all out shimmer straight on silver gray

Peaches - like Max Factor Sunset Scene highlight green eyes well.

Green eyes can wear almost anything - I have one or two blues that work well in moderation - blended out and applied subtly as highlight.
Lancome Colour Focus Blur - deep midnight blue
Jane Eye Zings Blue Heaven - green tinted blue - pastel - good over everything else to add a wash or layer of "extra"

FrogGirl

...I have clear green eyes with a very dark green rim. There is not really any yellow, brown or blue in my eyes. The only time they change color is if I wear light baby blue, when they look washed out (weird, I know). Maybe my eyes are FROG green?

I agree - Pink is totally the best for green eyes. I have like 12 pink eyeshadows, but my favorites are Clinique Ballerina and Estee Lauder Tea Rose.

A pretty red is To Be Ruby from Lauder.

I also can wear browns successfully, if they don't have grey undertones. A nice duo is Clinique's Double Date, although it has slight shimmer, so beware.

I have pinkish skin - definitely no yellow - so plums and purples also enhance my eye color.

In fact, I often get complimented on the old standby - pink lash to brow, with a deep crease of amethyst.

I cannot wear green, blue and many grey eyeshadows. They compete with my eye color and make me look dirty and tired.

I could give lots more, but I have to get back to work. Good luck.

I have lighter green eyes with dark green rims and lots of gold flecks
I find I can wear lots of colors but it depends on what I do with them
My faves in no particular order
Vincent Longo Soul trio that is a great one in providing shimmer gold/copper and beige that is a really pretty one
Passport gold cream shadow stick --this one is great too also anything gold is great whether it's a bronzed gold, light gold or warm gold
Silver and grey work really well too. I go for charcoal as well.
Deep plums and clear purples and lilacs are pretty as well. Just make sure that if you are working against type that you do something closer to eye that is more flattering for you
I like the BB shimmer shadows in all the colors and the Trish silvers, plums and greys.

warm browns are nice and deep chocolate tones are lovely. I used to use a trio from Lancome that would blow my eyes out the door bec it was a capuccino and bamboo series but it doesn't exist any longer .SIGH I use the Dorf fudgicle and some other shades of hers

I wear a matte yellow occasionally and even orange like silk from necessities. IF I do the orange bit, I pop it with another color that does work well-- pink and lots of it-- to make the orange less red. Red tones make my eyes very xmasy looking (ie red/green and if I have allergies going , it's worse)
I like Stila guava, tango and there are a few other shades

I don't wear a lot of green but when I do there is this batch of shades from Necessities that work
Worth which is a deep gold sparked green
Granny Smith a flat matte apple green
and then MARS which is a taupe iridescent purple/green shimmer which is awesome when paired with these other two. That is the one shadow that brings it together
I use a fair amt of peaches and bronzes together.

Josephine

Hair color: strawberry blonde.

I have come to feel that red (and by extension, pink) is the heart and soul of shadow shades for green eyes.

The kind of red/pink shadow you choose however will depend on two things: what kind of green your eyes are, and (to a lesser extent) the warmth or coolness of your general coloring.

If your green eyes contain a lot of blue, or else fall into the green/hazel, hazel/green categories, or are plain, drop-dead emerald, then purple is your friend. Purple complements blue, brown and green-green eyes. Imo, it also fares best if your coloring is on the cool or neutral side.

If your green eyes contain a lot of blue and you're warmer rather than cool, then I think orange is your friend. Orange can be light orange, champagne-gold tending to the orange, salmon-pink, butterscotch even.

But if your eyes are like mine...dark, blue-green rims, a sort of mish-mash of green, gold, and blue in the main...plus you're neutral-to-warm in coloring (purples tend to look ashy on me unless cut with a lot of pink, and warm shades are generally too warm), then pink and red proper, plus shades where those colors dominate, are your best buddies.

That said--here are some of my favorite shadows/looks:

MAC Vapour as an all-around base shade. It's white, with a definite note of pink, and brings my eyes out the way a regular, vanilla shade wouldn't quite. It's good with anything except a truly red shadow like MAC Sable.

My favorite look with Vapour is simply as a wash, lined with deep brown (Revlon PowderLiner Brown Suede).

MAC Swish--just bought this. It's a sheer, magenta shimmer, much subtler on than in the pan...it gives the eye a sort of subtle, frosted rose, velvety look. It actually looks the best on me, so far, by itself as a wash lined with the Brown Suede, but I am looking forward to trying it out with a colored liner.

MAC Sable--the color (dark brown shimmer with lots of red) is divine. But, you'll get much more mileage out of this, if you can handle dark eyeshadows. The only thing I can do with it is line. Looks best paired with a plain white base shade like Sonia Kashuk "Starlight" or that MAC Vanilla I keep meaning to get.

Sonia Kashuk Blossom...the evil aspect of this shadow is not the color, which is a perfect fusion of pink and lavender matte (most lavenders lean toward blue). The staying power kind of stinks. I use it, when I use it, layered over the Vapour to make it stay put.

Sonia Kashuk Golden...medium pink/golden/brown shimmer. It's good as a lid color, you might want a different highlight shade for browbones.

P.S. If you can wear mauve lipstick, it does make green eyes pop. Another thing--get some jewelry with green semi-precious stones...unakite, malachite, jade, etc.
