Heh heh...it's the "old man" who has a much, much stronger fashion sense than I do.
I actually have such an outfit. I wore it years ago in San Francisco. Get this--it is pinstripe pants, a white shirt, a tie...the tie fell apart somehow but it was a yellow silk striped tie. I do have a fedora (I didn't have it at the time though). In those days I had long hair. It was pretty dramatic because no one else was wearing it in the City...the closest thing would be lesbians. And lesbians generally did not dress that way either.
This is a San Francisco thing...San Francisco has, as it's generally known, a sizable gay population. What most people don't realize, looking at it from the outside, is that being gay is perfectly normal in the City. No one cares. The gays are a powerful voting block, a powerful political entity. Aside from that--as I say, no one could care one way or the other.
I'm bringing that up because, for us there's nothing odd about saying, "Oh, I saw this lesbian today..." or "I saw this gay guy today..." I remember this one lesbian I saw years ago who was wearing a suit. Ummm...I don't wanna beef but lesbians generally are not considered a high fashion group...but this one was smashing, she had on a tailored suit and tie, she had a "nose earring" (not sure what they call it), super short hair, the perfect figure...not that bulky sort of lesbian uniform look but more high fashion...
For me I stood out because I wasn't gay and I was wearing men's clothes. Well that is all a tale of my youth. :)
I am seriously fashion-impaired otherwise. I can handle...jeans. Wow. I just recently managed to get colored socks rather than black or white or grey. I'm wearing these shoes that are a size too big...not big as in falling off my foot, just big as in too big. What can I say? They're comfortable, durable, interesting-looking. Italian leather...
Ah, the jacket. Well I have been on a budget for a long time. You can spend yourself into a lot of debt buying everything that you want to buy. For me, I'd rather start with the obvious and spend there. Everything under a magnificent jacket can actually be cheap.
It's like perfume, or earrings. Earrings dictate the mood. In fact I need to buy some earrings. I have...lessee...one pair of 18 KT gold hoops. They're not bad hoops...I want bigger hoops. Less workmanship (i.e. less $$) but bigger size. Maybe I'll get out to Macys today and see what they have.
Well I plan on using you as my fashion guide. :) Or the old man. The old man is pretty good actually. That is all for next year...I'm thinking now of what kind of job I want to get. Before, I didn't want anything to do with the Internet. :) To me it wasn't "real" programming. Now I can see that, there's good Net and there's bad Net, like anything else.
