I went shopping again yesterday! I was very good though. I got my boots! They're almost up to my knee with a slightly chunky heel, about 2 inches high. They're synthetic and stretchy so no zip (my calves are too big for zip-up boots anyway; what's up with that? I do NOT have big calves). They're lined a bit and they're a nice deep brown. Perfect! I got size 7 1/2 because they had no more 7's. I have room for my orthotics and I have room for lining if I want more cushioning. They were 130$ which is around 90$-100$ US. Very reasonable for boots that'll take me through Winter without any special care (synthetic is great).
I also got 5 panties (they were 5 for 25$). I needed new ones and these were just too cute. Oh and I got a short corduroy skirt and corduroy pants, each of 'em 30$. The skirt is olive and the pants brown. They had burgundy, light blue, black, and beige too. I may go back for burgundy... I was going to get the pants at the GAP but Jacob Connexion had them for 30$ whereas the GAP charged 68$. Huh? I figure for 30$, if they die by the end of Winter, I can always get better quality cords on sale :) In any case, I don't think they'll die. I think they're just cheaper because they're 100% cotton, no stretch. I think this store has made their sizes bigger too because I almost got 3/4 in the skirt. I knew I'd fit a 5/6 but 3/4??? That just can't be. I've never been and I'll never be a 3/4...
Which brings me to a rant... Why do manufacturers keep making sizes bigger? I know it's a psychological thing but now, I can't compare my size now with my size 10 years ago. Back then, I wore a size 7/8. I don't have anymore clothes from back then so I can't check if I still fit in them. I'm pretty sure I don't. It's just that if *they* keep changing the sizing, how am I supposed to be happy that I'm down to a 5/6? Maybe the 5/6 I'm wearing today is the equivalent of a 9/10 from 10 years ago! Hate that... Frankly, I don't give a darn what the number of my size is. It could be 3365 for all I care. What's important is where I am in the range of sizes. If I was a 2 but that was the biggest size, I wouldn't be happy. I'm not meant to wear the biggest size. I'm meant to be average-small. Sigh, end of rant.
I tried on some jean coats yesterday. Tried a trench that came to my knee that was pretty cool and a shorter coat, motorcycle style with the small collar. I liked them both but I'm not sure which style I want yet. They both have a dressy casual look. You know, something that says "I just threw whatever on and it looks great". Effortless. I've slept on it and I think I'll go for the shorter coat. I'll take my boyfriend to the stores and ask him what he thinks. He's pretty good for that kind of thing.
Oh, I've also decided against the suede/leather for this year. It's just not in my budget and I want good quality. I'll definitely get one someday but not this year. Next year or the one after that. I need to save up for the wedding (says the girl who bought 300$ worth of skincare...). Besides, I have a cute wool zip-up sweater with a hood that should work nicely for Fall if I wear another sweater underneath. It's quite loose so I can layer lots under. AND, I have a poncho I got in Peru that I can wear. So really, I only need the jean coat. Even that, I could live without but darn it, I want one!
