Heh heh...well that only proves that you do have a strong sense of fashion. You can match the look to the personality, which is the key.
Yup...earring color depends on the color of your hair. Brunettes look best, imo, with your silver, white gold or platinum. Blondes look better in yellow gold. Redheads...I have not thought about that. It seems to me they can wear either.
I have some pearl earrings too and exactly, I only wear them for occasions. :) Hoops are really the thing.
Definitely...I looked in the mirror today and saw this tired old bag. Jewelry to the rescue!!!!! I got out this turquoise necklace I got a while ago at Macys. It's a choker made of polished turquoise chips. Cheap, granted, but perfect...it's greenish turquoise so it makes my eyes look the same color, vivid greeny-turquoise. And the style is youthful.
Ah so that goes on my wishlist...a larger pair of 18 KT yellow gold hoops. I don't think anything else is there...I'm always looking for that elusive jade pendant but it's nothing to hold your breath over.

I can't believe this! I actually figured out an outfit you wore! That's funny.
Oh, I need earrings too. I have pretty pearls that my boyfriend gave me but I only wear them for special occasions. I had other earrings he gave me but I lost one of them in the subway. Sniff. Since then, I haven't worn earrings on a daily basis. I should get hoops. I'd get silver though. Somehow, I like silver, platinum, and white gold better than yellow gold. I think it goes better with my colouring. Speaking of jewelry, I should wear my necklaces more. I have lots of pretty ones. I just don't think about it in the morning. Jewelry can really pull an outfit together though...

Heh heh...it's the "old man" who has a much, much stronger fashion sense than I do.
I actually have such an outfit. I wore it years ago in San Francisco. Get this--it is pinstripe pants, a white shirt, a tie...the tie fell apart somehow but it was a yellow silk striped tie. I do have a fedora (I didn't have it at the time though). In those days I had long hair. It was pretty dramatic because no one else was wearing it in the City...the closest thing would be lesbians. And lesbians generally did not dress that way either.
This is a San Francisco thing...San Francisco has, as it's generally known, a sizable gay population. What most people don't realize, looking at it from the outside, is that being gay is perfectly normal in the City. No one cares. The gays are a powerful voting block, a powerful political entity. Aside from that--as I say, no one could care one way or the other.
I'm bringing that up because, for us there's nothing odd about saying, "Oh, I saw this lesbian today..." or "I saw this gay guy today..." I remember this one lesbian I saw years ago who was wearing a suit. Ummm...I don't wanna beef but lesbians generally are not considered a high fashion group...but this one was smashing, she had on a tailored suit and tie, she had a "nose earring" (not sure what they call it), super short hair, the perfect figure...not that bulky sort of lesbian uniform look but more high fashion...
For me I stood out because I wasn't gay and I was wearing men's clothes. Well that is all a tale of my youth. :)
I am seriously fashion-impaired otherwise. I can handle...jeans. Wow. I just recently managed to get colored socks rather than black or white or grey. I'm wearing these shoes that are a size too big...not big as in falling off my foot, just big as in too big. What can I say? They're comfortable, durable, interesting-looking. Italian leather...
Ah, the jacket. Well I have been on a budget for a long time. You can spend yourself into a lot of debt buying everything that you want to buy. For me, I'd rather start with the obvious and spend there. Everything under a magnificent jacket can actually be cheap.
It's like perfume, or earrings. Earrings dictate the mood. In fact I need to buy some earrings. I have...lessee...one pair of 18 KT gold hoops. They're not bad hoops...I want bigger hoops. Less workmanship (i.e. less $$) but bigger size. Maybe I'll get out to Macys today and see what they have.
Well I plan on using you as my fashion guide. :) Or the old man. The old man is pretty good actually. That is all for next year...I'm thinking now of what kind of job I want to get. Before, I didn't want anything to do with the Internet. :) To me it wasn't "real" programming. Now I can see that, there's good Net and there's bad Net, like anything else.

Oh yeah, I never before really realized how much a jacket changes everything. It's part of the look, not just a cover-up so you won't be cold or wet or both :) Of course, having good jackets is easier in a temperate climate than this one. I mean, how many Winter coats am I expected to buy? I have a great black one but it doesn't fit with the mod look. And good Winter coats are expensive.
You know what? We need to get you reading some fashion mags. I get lots of ideas and inspiration from them. I like to browse through the US ones at the drugstore or grocery stores but my favourites to buy are Flare and Clin d'Oeil. Flare is Canadian so I know almost everything is available to me (except for Stila which hasn't gotten its butt over to Montreal yet). Clin d'Oeil is Quebec-based so I can be sure that everything featured actually IS available to me. Not that I would necessarily buy it. Though once, my boyfriend saw pants he'd just bought in a spread. How cool is that? They were grey plaid pants (look much nicer than they sound). He actually copied the look from the magazine for Christmas that year.
I was thinking about fashion (it's occupying my mind a lot these days; I've been putting outfits together in my mind). I'm thinking that, even though it may not be your style (I don't know), you'd look great in the masculine styles that are out this year. I'm thinking pinstripe pants. Slim with a cuff maybe, straight leg. Fitted white shirt. And then maybe a loose tie or suspenders (that'd be cool). Or even a Fedora (you like hats, right?). That'd be cool. And you could wear a vest (maybe Argyle) over the shirt. I would totally see strongish makeup with this. Either a bright red mouth (or dark mouth) or a darker eye. You could use your TBS stuff (Damson and Wine is it?). Anyway, I think it would look really cool on you. The pants could be part of a pantsuit and you'd have a nice interview outfit. It's really the accessories that make the difference. The tie, suspenders, hat... Anyway, I think it's a look that would work on you...

Stupendous... :) I say, if you can splurge on only one thing, let it be jackets... A cheap jacket shows. An expensive one, makes the entire outfit seem expensive. (Expensive doesn't have to mean $$$; sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.)
Imo it's like perfume. You can get away with cheap cosmetics--I can and do :) But cheap perfume tends to smell...cheap.
Weeeeelllll...heh heh. Have a couple of kids and you'll instantly get that wise, serene look (interspersed with that "harried parent" look of course).
Seductress? Bwahahahahahaha! That's easy. There's nothing more seductive to a man than, well, a woman, so you're already half-way there. After that...men always like to think there's a chance. 99% of the time it won't happen, so it's the imaginary part that can be as strong as the real thing.
The more imaginative the man, the more interesting it can be...
Oh, I love war stories in general. It doesn't literally have to be a war, just a story where someone overcomes incredible odds. I hate sappy, saccharine tales. I mean real life is always a struggle, that's just the way it is. Everyone knows what it's like to get kicked in the stomach. But what do you do? Lie there and moan about it?
Oooooohhhhhhh...Nazi Germany doesn't puzzle me, particularly. Nothing has changed. There is Nazi Germany today and there was Nazi Germany before there was Nazi Germany. I don't know. Somehow I think the solution...I still think the solution has to do with women. Women need more power over their own lives, more specifically, their reproductive lives. Every war is fought over one thing: territory. Land, space. We have six billion people fighting over the same space...the amount of space isn't going to change.
I think women are better suited to determining the size of a family. In rich countries, the size of the family is invariably small. In poor countries, invariably large. Can anyone claim that things should not change?
And I think we're better at working things out. It might appear on the surface that we fight more, however, we tend to kill each other a whole lot less. :)
Hummm...changing the subject...lol...that outfit sounds cute. (Brown cords, brown boots, lilac tee.) I could never in a million years come up with it.
It's extremely hot today...we're having another heat wave. I've used up my two pairs of cutoff shorts. I have this little overall-shorts thing I got at Clothestime. It's cute, it's got this sunflower design on it. Hum. Or I could dig around for old pants to make more cutoffs from. What luxury! It's normally never this hot which is why I have only three shorts things.

Oh-oh-oh! I got my jean jacket Friday night! It is soooooo cool. It has that dirty look and it has that motorcycle jacket look. It zips up. Anyway, today, I'm wearing brown cords, brown boots and a lilac T-shirt. Before the jacket, the look is very conservative, kind of blah. But when I put the jacket on, I look very very cool and stylish. That jacket just makes it work. I love it!
Sigh, but now, I'm done with shopping. The rest of the wishlist is wants not needs so I'll be doing the bargain thing for those. Bah, work has been so hectic that I don't even really have time to shop anyway!
When I get to be older, I hope to have a wise look on my face. A wise, calm, serene look. The look of someone who's learned. I may end up with a totally different look though. I'm such a passionate person that I wonder if I'm ever going to be serene... Anyhoo, I'll be content with innocent for now :) I like that. Innocent and happy.
About the sexy mysterious look, I just don't think it'll ever happen. I have suffered a bit. I've dealt with death and other painful things and I have a cute scar in the middle of my forehead :) It's just that I'd like to play seductress sometimes but I can't. The best I can do is the lolita-look. Naughty and fun. How is it that people always take me seriously but I can't look serious?
Ya know, I like scars too. Hmmm, I think I like war stories too. But not all of them. I think tales of suffering are good from a psychological aspect. It's inspiring to see the mental growth. I loved reading "The Pianist". At the end of it all, the guy says something about not understanding how people who love music so much (the Germans) could do such horrible things. There was no hatred in this guy, he just couldn't understand. That was special.
How'd I get here from a jean jacket?

lol...that's funny. I can still wear "young" looks but only to a point.
It's less obvious signs of age...I mean, in theory, you can eradicate those with surgery. The fact is this. Even if you smooth out every line and wrinkle that you have, I can still tell that you're not a kid. It's experience.
In fact that's been on my mind lately...how much the way you are, ends up showing on your face. I used to think it started at age thirty but now I don't think so, I think it starts earlier than that.
Like..."The Portrait of Dorian Gray." When I was growing up, I always heard that it was about a guy who was afraid of getting old. The portrait aged but the guy didn't.
When I finally got around to reading the story of course I found out that's not what it was about. It's about corruption. Every time Dorian did something evil, it popped up...at first subtly...on the portrait.
Sheesh what a tangent...what I mean is, youth is also a metaphor for innocence. When you get to be my age, you may look very young, it is possible. But I of course do not have this innocence any more. This Mod look imo has that freshness, that innocent quality; that is what makes it charming. But you have to have the naivete to go with it.
Corduroy...I had some of it when I was on the East Coast. It's not a real "California" material. I like the thought of a little olive green corduroy skirt though. That would be cute.
lol! Is it always good to have a sexy mysterious look? I think it comes from suffering. You can't be sexy and mysterious unless you've been through a lot. It's like scars...people think they're ugly. I never ever thought that way. A scar means a war story. I find war stories interesting. It's not the notion of never having been through stuff. It's going through it and living to tell the tale.
It all goes back to the idea that women getting old is a bad thing. It's only bad if you get old and you haven't learned anything. :)

Oooh, I like that! Hmm the Argyle/plaid part makes it sound like a bit of a grown-up schoolgirl look too. I may need to find myself a cute little Argyle vest or sweater to wear on top of a turtleneck or shirt. I admit, it is a very young look. Figure I might as well do it now when I can pull it off. Maybe I'll still have a young face later (have been very religious with the sunscreen lately) but I don't wanna chance it :) Then again, I'll never have a sexy, mysterious or glamorous look. I'll always be cute or pretty. Ravishing, a man once said (wasn't he sweet?). I'm more like daytime than nighttime if that makes any sense.
But Josie, you must get yourself some corduroy. Pants, a skirt, a jacket, whatever. It's a Fall essential! And it looks casual so it would fit well with your current lifestyle but it can be dressed up too. Especially the skirts. I don't know a lot of people here who don't own *something* in corduroy... Of course, we get a real Fall...

Mod sighting at Albertsons...
Keep in mind, I don't live in the City anymore? :) I think they're been doing the Mod thing for weeks over there.
Anyhow...I like. She had these high boots, dark brown, with sort of chunky heels...a brown corduroy skirt (not mini-mini but short). I think the top was a turtleneck and I seem to recall plaid fitting in there somewhere, like a plaid or Argyle-type patterned shirt over the turtleneck (okay I have two kids to chase after so I tend to just go for the large details).
Ummm...it's kind of young for me...I like the corduroy though, that's different. I own zero corduroy anything.
Saw some olive corduroy skirts at Target...Mossimo I think. Didn't like the design but I do like the colors and material.

Yeah, that's it, I have strong calves, not big calves! Seriously though, I have no issues with my calves. I like 'em fine the way they are. It's just so annoying to only be able to fit in stretch boots. Anyhow...
I love the Glamour Do's and Don't's too! Sometimes, I find them a bit harsh on the Don't people. There was this girl with dyed bright red hair once who was a Don't because of her hair. I wouldn't consider her a Do but I didn't think she was a Don't either. Leave some place for self-expression people! Besides, it wasn't like the red hair was unflattering. It was quite cool... The Don't's that I do agree with usually revolve around fried hair, mullets, and too small clothes... Whatever is just not flattering. I also hate when they don't seem to realize that sometimes, you do need three bags... Ah, whatever. No sense getting worked up. Still love the page though. I'm always grabbing the magazine just for that.

I looooove Glamour Do's and Don'ts. Admittedly I like the Do's better than the Don'ts. I can remember a page of Do's from the 1970's. Two of the girls had this incredibly long, lush hair (was the look, in those days). One of them had this little straw hat on. I thought, what wonderful style.
Of course my hair never looked that good long. sigh
I swear, once I was sure they'd taken a picture of me. In the Don'ts, of course. Same hair, same sort of face, same clothes. I kept trying to look around the black box they put over people's eyes to see if it really was me. The "don't"...this woman had her purse on across her chest rather than hanging off her shoulder (which I've been known to do with long-strapped purses in a pinch). She had on this tank top and I think one of her bra straps was sliding down her shoulder. Heh heh...I don't think it was me, after all, but it was funny.
Speaking of purses...I really like the new style now, the shorter strap. It stays put on your shoulder. The long-strap style always found a way of sliding down.

I saw my new olive silk cargo pants in the new issue of Glamour mag. There on the back page of fashion dos/don'ts. Guess what? They're a DONT! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!
What a riot! I love it!
There is a pic of some lady wearing them and the comments about it are that they are not appropriate to be worn to work at a law firm. I totally agree.
I wear mine to wal-mart

Well that sounds great. I love olive green; it's one of my favorite colors (the other being dark red).
I'll guess that your calves are just stronger than the average. That can't be a bad thing.
I like that..."effortless." That is the best way, the best philosophy. I am getting more and more comfortable inside my clothes these days... Today I had on this black Banana Republic long-sleeved t-shirt. It's kind of tight. Also, my J. Crew boot-cut jeans. I had to mend them...they're getting old, admittedly. I don't like anyone else mending my clothes. I think I did a good job. Then...my trusty Banana Republic jacket. Oh yeah, it's the same shirt too.
I felt gooooooood...I don't know? These are my clothes.
Heh heh! Well I'm confused as hell, regarding so-called "vanity sizing." Then again, I tend to just grab whatever fits. Ultimately, it won't matter if a size 8 becomes a size 4. That just means that, psychologically, a size 4 will become a size 8, once everyone's forgotten that it ever was a size 8. It'll be the same thing, because it is the same thing.
Hummm...I'm on a sock kick. I got these cute socks from Target today. They have pictures of different coffee drinks on them, and a teddy bear (drinking the coffee, presumably).
I've concluded...that most of my impulse purchases, fashion-wise, connote something from my youth. Either something I wanted, and couldn't afford, or else something that just reminds me of my youth.

I went shopping again yesterday! I was very good though. I got my boots! They're almost up to my knee with a slightly chunky heel, about 2 inches high. They're synthetic and stretchy so no zip (my calves are too big for zip-up boots anyway; what's up with that? I do NOT have big calves). They're lined a bit and they're a nice deep brown. Perfect! I got size 7 1/2 because they had no more 7's. I have room for my orthotics and I have room for lining if I want more cushioning. They were 130$ which is around 90$-100$ US. Very reasonable for boots that'll take me through Winter without any special care (synthetic is great).
I also got 5 panties (they were 5 for 25$). I needed new ones and these were just too cute. Oh and I got a short corduroy skirt and corduroy pants, each of 'em 30$. The skirt is olive and the pants brown. They had burgundy, light blue, black, and beige too. I may go back for burgundy... I was going to get the pants at the GAP but Jacob Connexion had them for 30$ whereas the GAP charged 68$. Huh? I figure for 30$, if they die by the end of Winter, I can always get better quality cords on sale :) In any case, I don't think they'll die. I think they're just cheaper because they're 100% cotton, no stretch. I think this store has made their sizes bigger too because I almost got 3/4 in the skirt. I knew I'd fit a 5/6 but 3/4??? That just can't be. I've never been and I'll never be a 3/4...
Which brings me to a rant... Why do manufacturers keep making sizes bigger? I know it's a psychological thing but now, I can't compare my size now with my size 10 years ago. Back then, I wore a size 7/8. I don't have anymore clothes from back then so I can't check if I still fit in them. I'm pretty sure I don't. It's just that if *they* keep changing the sizing, how am I supposed to be happy that I'm down to a 5/6? Maybe the 5/6 I'm wearing today is the equivalent of a 9/10 from 10 years ago! Hate that... Frankly, I don't give a darn what the number of my size is. It could be 3365 for all I care. What's important is where I am in the range of sizes. If I was a 2 but that was the biggest size, I wouldn't be happy. I'm not meant to wear the biggest size. I'm meant to be average-small. Sigh, end of rant.
I tried on some jean coats yesterday. Tried a trench that came to my knee that was pretty cool and a shorter coat, motorcycle style with the small collar. I liked them both but I'm not sure which style I want yet. They both have a dressy casual look. You know, something that says "I just threw whatever on and it looks great". Effortless. I've slept on it and I think I'll go for the shorter coat. I'll take my boyfriend to the stores and ask him what he thinks. He's pretty good for that kind of thing.
Oh, I've also decided against the suede/leather for this year. It's just not in my budget and I want good quality. I'll definitely get one someday but not this year. Next year or the one after that. I need to save up for the wedding (says the girl who bought 300$ worth of skincare...). Besides, I have a cute wool zip-up sweater with a hood that should work nicely for Fall if I wear another sweater underneath. It's quite loose so I can layer lots under. AND, I have a poncho I got in Peru that I can wear. So really, I only need the jean coat. Even that, I could live without but darn it, I want one!

'80's fashion...it's too soon for it to come back. When it's too close, it's kind of sickening. Give it ten years.
Yup...sounds like the '60's London thing to me. Oh...Austin Powers, Liz Hurley, that sort of thing. :)
Well, I need a fashion consultant. I'm rather hopeless as is. I don't need you now *g*--I'm saving my money. I wear casual clothes now and I get most of what I need from the MAGS. But I will need you later on, when I'm working. That's when you can tell me what goes with what.

lol! My old man would have a coronary if I wore a thong and it showed. :) It's not for me, but I for one don't think it looks trashy.
I think because...I see things differently. It has to do with Iran. Iran is like an extreme example...you might as well try Afghanistan...but it's an extreme version of how some people still think. Some people still think there's something sinful about women's bodies. We're behind Europe...they have topless beaches, right? And it's not a big deal over there.
So generally, I think it's not only okay for women to be sexy, I think we're morally obligated to be sexy at least some of the time. It's not to please men. Well if men had their way, I doubt we'd be wearing anything at all. :) I think we can be sexy for ourselves.
I am just babbling now. :)
I think I know what kind you mean. I think of them as boy shorts. I like them, they're nice. They should work with the pants too, because they're cut low on top.
You can tell if your jeans fit, by looking at your butt in a mirror. If the butt fits, then everything is right. I'm wearing these J.Crew jeans today...they do sink below my belly button. But they're not loose otherwise so, that's how they're supposed to be.
If you need to shrink them, I'd go conservative the first time...start with a warm water wash and put them in the dryer. That'll already shrink them some.
If they're still too big, I'd go with a hot water wash and dry the living hell out of them at high heat. That's extreme though. That's only if the first, regular wash and dry doesn't work.
But I'm guessing you're just not used to wearing low-rise jeans. Give 'em a chance. :)

Thongs.
I do have a few. I don't know if they'd hang out of my pants or not. I'll have to check. So showing ones thong is trashy? hehehehe :) I'm going to have to do it at least once for the husband. He'll looooove it. He's complaining that I'm the only person who buys low-rise jeans and then wears tops to her knees to make sure no skin shows.
I've discovered a problem with my new jeans. They're too big. I probably shouldn't have been trying on jeans at that particular time of the month, if you know what I mean. This week they are falling down below my belly button or are they supposed to sit that low? The tag says they're lower rise just below waist. Maybe I can shrink them some in the dryer? I'm sure a size 10 is going to be to small. I can't easily exchange them. I bought them at an Old Navy by my mom's, two hours away.
Mod. I'm not going to do Mod. It just doesn't work for my life. I do like tights though. I always have. I'd like a short skirt (black) with black tights. I love funky tights. The girls I used to work with would order the wildest tights.
I was born in 1970 so I was pretty little during that decade. I do have pictures though of myself as a 6 year old sporting a lovely shag hair cut. I came of age in the 80's. I was busy doing my own thing though. I did have a brief phase of dressing like Madonna and/or Cindy Lauper. Then I shaved my head and discovered black.
Back to underwear. Is discussing my underpants really fashion related? :) I want those black lace stretchy kind. Ohhh, what are they called? They look like a piece of square lace with a crotch in them. Hang on, I'm going to go look them up.
Ok, Victoria's Secret calls them "Tangas" but they also kinda look like boy shorts. My girlfriend bought some from VS and they look awesome. I saw undies labeled "lowrise" at Target, I suppose that's where I'll start.

Thank you! Compliments always make me ridiculously happy... I *think* the mod look is 60's. Not sure. I'm no fashion expert. Essentially, it's bright colours in blocks. Not prints. Knee high boots with rather chunky heels and more rounded toes. Opaque tights, sometimes in colour. Miniskirts and dresses and turtlenecks. Basically, it shows a lot of leg but covers you up on top. I saw a picture of a model dressed up mod-style and she had a white turtleneck, a royal blue miniskirt, orange tights and I forget what colour boots. White or black I think. It's a rather young looking style but I think a woman of any age can pull it off if her legs look good. I will probably do this look with black tights and black boots to keep my legs as long as possible.
Oh, I absolutely cannot do 80's fashion! I grew up during the 80's and I loved it as a child. I mean, what little girl wouldn't? Plenty of colour, lace, makeup... But now, I find it just so.... not subtle! It's got the tackiness of wearing all your jewelry at once. I don't know. I do like the Flashdance look with the leg warmers and all but only for Halloween :) 70's stuff used to be hard for me too (especially as a teenager) because I saw it in my photo albums. It didn't look so good. The updated version looks a bit better. Or maybe it's just the retro look that's cool... Anyhoo...
Thongs. For Carol's jeans, they'd also need to be low-rise because you especially don't want a thong showing. Too trashy. I do wear thongs every so often but you really have to find the ones that feel comfortable to you. They're excellent for cutting down on panty lines if that's the type of thing that worries you. May be too much information but for comfort, I prefer G-strings to thongs. They have less material in the back so you don't feel it there as much. I just like to keep a variety of underwear for different situations. Must say that for travel, nothing has ever beaten my microfiber underwear. It's what dries the fastest so I can handwash it and it'll be dry by the next morning. Very important for travel...

Hummm...you mean the mod look as in '60's London, that sort of thing? Wow. Finally a fashion I didn't grow up with. It is different when it's something you've already seen, like '70's fashion. I ran screaming from '70's fashion, in the '80's. :)
I for one intend to sit this fashion out...although I must say, I like your taste. I'll worry about looking that good when I get a paying job.

Oooh Carol, make sure to get some special underwear for low-rise pants. Since your jeans aren't that low, you'll be able to rest safe in that nothing will show. I can't rec a store for you. I usually buy underwear in lingerie stores like La Senza and La Vie en Rose or the lingerie department of Les Ailes de la Mode.
I went to the drugstore during my lunch hour. Of course, I was attracted to the magazines. I checked out Glamour because I just love the Do's and Don'ts page :) Anyhow, I looked at some Fall fashion. Bad idea. The mod look is in for Fall. I love that look! I love the boots, the tights, the turtlenecks, the short skirts and dresses... I like showing off my legs. A lot :) (We need better smileys by the way.) So, turtlenecks, got'em. Boots, got'em. Tights, need more but I always have'em for Winter. Short skirts and dresses, oops, don't have those! I only have the one jean miniskirt but that won't work! Sigh, now I *need* more clothes. Maybe a dress and a skirt. Hmmm, maybe I should skip the corduroy skirt and replace it with a cute mod thing? Ack, ack, ack. And then, I saw that the menswear thing is in for Fall too. I don't look so hot in menswear but I love love love those Argyle sweaters! I was looking for one a couple years ago and couldn't find one I liked. I was looking for classic colours like red, black, camel, etc. Now, I'm willing to have more fun with colour. And here I was thinking I had enough sweaters. Oh and tweed! I've been wanting tweed for a while too and it's also back! Hate that. Now, I'll have to buy pants or a skirt in tweed. There was some more stuff but that's what struck me.
It's amazing really. Here I was, quite happy with what I was planning to buy and bam! More stuff on the wishlist! I don't know how I manage to keep afloat financially... So here's what I want now. Note it's what I want, not what I'll get.
-brown boots
-suede/leather coat in a cool yet eternal style.
-jean coat in a non-traditional cut
-corduroy pants (will be getting beige or camel after all because my beige pants are looking shabby and everyone needs something beige)
-corduroy miniskirt
-colourful miniskirt (blue or red or fuschia or purple, I would think)
-short tweed skirt
-tweed pants (this is a wishlist, ok? I can have the skirt AND pants)
-Argyle sweater
-minidress mod-style (I tell you, I have exactly the figure to pull this off)
-long suede or fake suede skirt
-underwear :)
-casual bag
-dark red shoes (saw some way cute Skechers)
-oh, and these really cool corduroy brown pants I saw, the corduroy stripes are so fine it almost looks like it's not corduroy!
And that's it. I need to start finding money now... Realistically though, I'll likely wait for sales for a lot of this stuff. Boxing day sales are always good...

Hummm...I think Victoria's Secret has the best underwear for the price. Lots of selection, something for everyone.
Second to that would be Old Navy. I saw some cute little cotton bikini sets when I was there last.
Third...Costco. I traditionally buy underwear from Costco, but I was kicking myself this last time. I had just bought a six-pack of bikinis...eh...the best I could find (for some reason our Costco has lots of high-cuts but next to no bikinis). As soon as I bought it, I discovered the stash at Old Navy...oh well.
Have fun!

Speaking of underwear. I'm going to need new ones. My large, white cotton, granny style briefs do NOT look good hanging out of the back of my new jeans. *yeeesh* Its not that my jeans ride so low, its just that my granny pants are so dang BIG. Now I'm going to have to go splurge on brand new sexy underwear.

Wow!!!!!!!! That is stupendous. :) I mean it is healthy...overweight is much more of a health issue than has been admitted, much, in our media. It's been politicized, even glamorized...which I've tried to keep off the site. Health is health. And once you've damaged your health, it is very, very hard to get it back again.
Aside from that though...ooooooooh! I'll bet you look foxy. I for one think it's worthwhile to get a few more pairs of those jeans. If it feels good, it is good.
*g* I match my underwear to my clothes. Not perfectly match, just generally...I'm wearing my oatmeal-colored Gap socks today. Normally I don't buy Gap socks...they're sterling socks, they last for years, etc. Hum. I might get into buying Gap socks someday, the old man wears them. I've been doing the Costco six-pack sock thing, then last time I caved and got colored Target socks.
Anyhow that means that purple underwear is out of the question. Right? lol
Hummm...$150 is good for a leather jacket. Well for me the thing is...there are two kinds of leather jackets. One is the durable kind. The other is the decorative, suede kind. I have some decorative ones...a Western style, with fringes...and something like a baseball jacket, but suede.
Durable is actually harder to find. Lessee...I own a few. One is very, very old. It's part leather and part cloth. I also have one with a sheepskin collar. The pride of my jackets though, is one that's been deliberately distressed.
It reminds me somehow of the one Chris Noth wore in the original Law and Order. Okay it sounds nuts but I always loved that guy's coat. Now his was long, brown, it looked old...oh yeah!
Mine isn't any of those things...it's shorter, distressed, darker brown...but I get that lovely "old jacket" feeling and it looks great. Better than new-looking.

First of all, congrats to you Carol! I know how it feels to fit into smaller clothes. Especially after having gained weight.
Second of all, I'm NOT an engineer. Pffff! I'm a mathematician, thank you very much :) Ok, granted, still a geek. And my boyfriend is also a geek (he's the engineer). But we're both very fashion conscious for some reason. I've been like that since I was a kid. My parents laugh at me because I match my underwear to my outerwear. Still don't get that since you'd look ridiculous with a black bra underneath a white shirt... Anyhoo, maybe I should've gone into marketing. I would have looked the part a little more :) As it is, I'm the most dressed up developer at work...
250$ CAN must be something like 150$ US? Not sure 'bout that. The canadian $ must be worth about 72 cents US right now. It's not a lot for suede. The reason I need to think about it for a very long time before buying a suede/leather coat is that I most likely wouldn't buy a 250$ coat. I would most likely want a coat from Rudsak which is a leather designer... Uh, yeah. A teeny bit more expensive... And then there's the fact that if I were to pay that much for a coat, it would have to be a pretty classic coat so that it could last me a while. And right now, I have a hankering for something less classic. Saw some really cool jean coats when I was shopping. Anyhow, that's the dilemma. Still neeed to think about it...

I bought a pair of jeans this weekend.
I got them from Old Navy. Bootcut, stretch, lower rise (they hit just below my belly button), dark denim, in a size (get this)
12!
12!
12!
I'm in a freakin' size TWELVE!!!!
and they're loose too!!!!!!
I started this summer wearing a 16 and now I'm in a loose 12!!!
I even tried a pair of their ultra-low rise jeans and I almost, almost got them too. I liked them more than I thought I would. DH insisted I try a pair, he was dying to see what I looked like in them. He loved 'em too. I thought the higher rise ones were abit more practical for my lifestyle. I felt like I was falling out of the ultra low ones.
I also bought a brown tee with some cheesy hot pink paris print on it. Thats the only thing I don't like about Old Navy is their name printed HUGE all over everything. I found a tee I liked with O.N. printed as small as possible on it. I've got a coupon for $10 off a $50 purchase. I'm thinking of going back and getting another pair or two of jeans. I love how these fit and look on me, perfect.
