Where was I...
posted by Colleen Shirazi, July 14, 2006 at 6:08 PM (Pacific)

I made some earrings using this design: Four Plus 1 Chandelier Earrings Jewelry Making Project. It's not the straight-across one, it's the one that goes down in the middle.

These look much nicer in person somehow. Again I used my Olympus-Lite. The "frame" is large enough to use a fair-sized bead as the center dangle. I used small round garnets on the bottom; the earrings were long enough that way. Even though they look more complicated than the diamond-shaped ones here: Runway Earrings Jewelry Making Project, I found them actually easier to make, although that could just be a matter of experience.

Now I can appreciate the difference between a "square" jig like the Olympus-Lite and a "round" one like the Cyclops or what have you. The square ones produce more squared shapes. The round ones can do more complicated curved shapes. What I'm drooling for, myself, is one of those "Super Pegs" so that I can make something like this: Tiered Raindrop Earrings Jewelry Making Project. I was going to see if Baubles and Beads had it but I didn't have time to look properly.
