Weather

Boots by Dr. Martens, jeans by Guess?

Recall that your clothing should be like skin. You should feel completely comfortable in it.

A skin can function as camouflage or as protection.

Here we see the latter. Dr. Martens keep my feet warm and dry even in the pouring rain, the dashing hail, the snow, and the cold.

I can't say I've ever gotten into any fights wearing them. :) But I would be well-equipped.

Jacket by Old Navy

This is really handy to have. It's water-repellent, it has a generous hood, it's roomy and long. It's lightweight but lined warmly.

Plus, it's durable. I have two kids and it's been machine washed a few times.

It has several good-sized pockets and the hood can be tightened.

Cold weather is an excellent excuse to wear hats.

Not that I don't wear hats in summer; I do. Baseball caps take me through many a sizzling-hot sunny day.

But winter hats can be more special. I've had this beret for anywhere from fifteen to twenty years. I don't remember where I bought it.

I have an odd beret collection actually. But it's only this year that I've begun to wear them again. (I wore my red one a lot back in 1985.)
