Actually, my doctor wanted me to lose 5-10 pounds but I gained 5 so it's now 10 to 15. He was nice enough to say I wasn't THAT fat. Thanks. I added 5 pounds if only because I can never lose the last 5 pounds. Just a mental trick I'm playing on myself... I usually wear a size 8 now but it used to be a 6. And when I say "used to", that means a year or two back. I actually still feel and look fine in a bikini (but then, I've never been the string bikini type) and I don't hate what I look like. I don't like the number on the scale but that's not important. What's important is fitting into my clothes. Some of my pants are too tight now. I can wear them but they feel tight. I just want to get back into them, you know? And again, I've only had these for a year or two so I'm not trying to fit into my teenage years clothes.
I haven't been getting as much exercise as I'd like and I'm sure that hasn't helped my cause. I haven't gained weight so at least I know I'm doing enough to maintain. A month ago, I felt too depressed to work out. Now, I actually want to exercise more but I can't handle the heat. Just walking home from work makes me feel sick even though I drink a lot of water. I don't have air conditioning at home so it doesn't get easier once I get there. I've thought of joining the YMCA again or else the CEPSUM (Universite de Montreal sport centre; it has the best pool ever) but that's not financially reasonable right now (I'm supporting DH while he does his MBA so, while money isn't that tight, I have to be very careful with expenses). And yeah, the water parks are way out of the city and they're expensive.
Since walking has become so hard, I thought biking would great. I'd get a bit of wind at least. Don't have a bike. I've decided that will be my next big purchase. I'm waiting for end of season sales to buy a nice bike. Then, I'll be able to ride to work and back from, say, April to November. Hey, the money I save from not needing a bus pass every month will pay for the bike within a year!
