Thoughts

My doctor used calipers to test my body fat and that's how he decided how much weight I needed to lose. He never actually got my weight. Eh, I can't say I'm crazy about my doctor. He's a little too old school for my tastes. He doesn't believe in weightlifting for instance. Doesn't burn enough calories he says. Forget exercising for other health benefits... He just doesn't seem up to date when it comes to fitness, nutrition, and mental health. I would look for another doctor but there's a shortage here. I'm just lucky I actually have a doctor.

This past month, I dragged a cold/flu thing around constantly. I'm convinced it's related to emotional stress, at work mostly. I'd need some time off from there but I don't think my doctor would get the stress-sickness relationship. I know my body. Too much stress breaks down my immune system and I'll catch any bug. So I've been trying harder to do my yoga and relax. It's hard! I'd rather sit on the couch and knit. At least, I'm still walking a lot and I'm starting to want to do more than that.

I've also been eating better. Lots of legumes and vegetables. I know I'm weird but legumes actually make me feel much better than meat. I don't get bloated like most people do after eating legumes. My guess is my body would be happiest with a mostly vegetarian diet. Meat-loving DH isn't too happy about that so I told him to get himself a steak or something once in a while. He hasn't even done it yet...
