How to soak up large amounts of coffee off a carpet

This is not shampoo advice...it's for when there is a large amount of coffee, say, on your car's carpet, or at home, and you want to soak it up out of there in a hurry, and worry about shampooing later on.
What you need, if you commute, is to keep an old, clean, full-size bath towel in your car. Don't use a tea towel and don't use paper napkins. The former isn't big enough and the latter will dissolve and add shreds of paper to the mess on the carpet.
Take your bath towel, folded twice, place it over the coffee, and step on it. Really step on it. If you need to, you can pick it up, refold it, and repeat the process.
You will be amazed how much coffee ends up in the towel.
