Keeping the twist in a broomstick skirt?
posted by Colleen Shirazi, Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at 11:26 AM (Pacific)

I got one of these for my daughter. Its instructions said to wash it in cold water on the delicate cycle, then twist it tightly, place 3 or 4 rubber bands on it to keep it twisted, then toss into the dryer on low heat.

Well--this works, but it's a PITA because of course the skirt takes forever to dry.

Next time, I tried drying the skirt on low heat without twisting or fastening it...until it was almost dry. Then I took it out, twisted it (as I say it has to be almost dry so it won't get moldy), and laid it in its twisted form inside her dresser drawer.

It's not quite as good, but it's good enough. You get some of the crinkles without the pain.
