U2, along with Dave Matthews Band, I've never been able to develop a taste for--I'm not sure why, because they're musically adept. I'm sure I'm missing something, and seeing this video, where they're in their natural element, I think it must be how pop-y they've gotten, and they were pretty pop-y to begin with. But jesus, they are so young! I'm so used to seeing them as aging rock stars.

If I can remember...I saw U2 in concert, the once. I think I was 17 or 18. Ugh. I checked online, but they played a few concerts around then, so I was anywhere from 17 to 19. I don't even remember the exact venue.
That's when I loved them as a group. That was 20-some years ago. They sold out...from the beginning imo. They were always into marketing, before anyone else really was. They had tons of merchandise, they would release a record with 4 songs on it, 2 of them from an album you already owned, forcing you to buy the 4-song record if you wanted the complete U2.
Still they were a great band. They seemed to burst with energy, they had The Edge after all... I remember listening to Boy, which was released in 1980. It's an incredible record.
