Of all the great shoe brands at our disposal, none capture my fancy quite like Miu Miu ($445 at barneys.com). It's a little more youthful (and cheaper) than Prada's main line, which is probably why the designs appeal to me. This bicolor pump (in dove grey and black suede) retains the classic lines of the stiletto pump, but it's been tweaked ever so slightly, just enough to make it entirely unique in its own right. When you buy designers for design, this is what you look for, pieces that straddle the fine line between standard and non-standard, between neutrality and personality. So perfect for cocktail parties, so perfect for work, or just dressing up in general.
