Wow! An entire blog post for ME! I am honored! Truely! And now I shall stop with the exclamation points.
I should post my "Elvira" picture. I think its a combination of the big hair, pale skin, red lips, dark hair and black dress that calls to mind "Elvira". I think I used black eyeliner that night too. So, maybe it was more the hairstyle and clothing than the red lipstick.
I'm feeling my age this summer. I know, I know, I'm not THAT old, but I can really start to feel changes in my body this summer that haven't been there before. They're subtle but they're there.
I've been reading a book about premenopause. Its very interesting. The author said this, The first part of your life, you are born to someone else, in the second part of your life, you birth someone else and in the 3rd part of your life (pre-Meno. and beyond), you give birth to yourself. That rang very true for me and it almost instantly changed my attitude about this whole getting older business.
I used to have a pale, pale, shimmery lilac lipstick by Maybelline. Hubby LOVED how it looked on me. Maybe I'll explore that option. I'll look at Gothika if I can ever, ever find the time to take the trip to Sephora....

Dear Carol, you are a sweetheart! I think I only say what everyone else already knows.
I mean, this model is young and gorgeous, mind, but I can't imagine anything I'd add or subtract, it's just a perfect whole, even down to the false lashes that make her look like such a doll.
Half my teeth are rotting away in my head. I don't mind the wear and tear of wrinkles or grey hair, but plain decay is pretty depressing. Though evidently not depressing enough, because I haven't done anything about them, except to gross people out by talking about them... ok, I will stop talking about it.
Gothika is kickass. It looks good anytime, anywhere, with anything. It's expensive, but they give you a lot of product. And while you're there, NARS Chelsea Girls is well worth looking at: it's a platonic ideal of a nude. I've also been playing around with my Lipstick Queen Minor Crisis sample: it's a sort of pure velvety rose, as innocent and ladylike as handmade lace or a bouquet of rosebuds, but it still has a sort of vibrant depth, hard to describe. It's not nude, but I don't really wear nudes, so I just think it's nice for spring.

You've got to get your teeth worked on! It really is worth it. I know what you mean, it's expensive, try to get a dentist you can work with. I had a good one some years back and got everything fixed, at the best price possible (really depends on the dentist, some of them charge you all the way).
Rose is good. I agree, rose with too much brown in it is dated. Clear rose, or deep pink, is a good alternative to pure red. It's not as "in your face," but still modern in a "vintage"--pre-brown, pre-sheer, pre-YLBB--way, if that makes any sense.

Carol: that is a cool quote. !!! :D It takes twenty years out of your life, at least, if you want to have kids. The key is to stay healthy. Otherwise you won't be able to enjoy the last part of your life.
