I covet this silk dress from J. Crew ($895). The special favors that black does to most people, white does to me. The favorite basics: tailored jacket, the LBD, the svelte pencil skirt—white. This gown is just the sweetest thing, just a hair removed from ultrafeminine (now defunct) Rochas, in swirly wallpaper-esque white silk, with ruffles and puff sleeves and rows of buttons, understated Victorian details. Perhaps it's a trifle formal and old-fashioned, but I wouldn't feel awkward in it, because that's honestly how I like it, and it's expensive (for J. Crew), but it's supposed to be a wedding gown, which puts things in perspective. It would be more versatile if it were shorter (trains will drag), but aesthetically I have no objection to the length.Labels: fantasy web find of the day, j crew
