Above: silver, bronze, sea green, and an array of metallic shades from Urban Decay.
Metallic is a type of finish, a shimmer that is particularly light reflective for a foil-like effect. Every particle is pure shimmer, but it differs from frost because it resemble shiny, polished metal, which is why so many shades take the name of metals: gold, silver, bronze, pewter, platinum, copper, brass. Other colors, too, can be metallic, like the sea green above. For the most part, metallics are found among eyecolors, but nailpolishes and lipcolors can be metallic too.
