Posted by Dain, Saturday, October 13, 2007 7:07 AM (Eastern) ![]() Beauté Initiale Eye Crème Yeus Énergisante Multi-Protection Anti-Poches/Anti-Cernes Energizing Multi-Protection Eye Cream Anti-Puffiness/Dark Circles SPF 15: If they didn't put it in French and make it extra-long, you wouldn't be impressed enough to shell out $60 for this, even if, in truth, the whole moniker is nonsensical. It is a pleasant product, pleasantly scented, pleasant texture, and protection from avobenzone that's no hype. But it stings like crazy if it gets in your eyes, and as such, can't recommend it. Beauté Initiale Fluide Énergisant Multi-Protection Hâle Progressif Energizing Multi-Protection Fluid Healthy Glow SPF 15: Hmm... these names get increasingly pretentious, "Hâle Progressif" sounds like the motto of a political party for organic-food activists. But I like this, and I do not generally like sunscreens (this is also avobenzone based). It's got a light, pleasant scent that reminds me vaguely of cucumber, albeit a lab-grown cucumber, which suits the artifice and technology-embracing image of Chanel rather well. And the texture is not so horrendously tacky, comfortable enough on the face so I don't feel dirty, yet my hands need washing afterwards. It is light-to-mid weight, as might be expected of a lotion, so may not suit the oily, with a touch of self-tanner (Chanel is not forthright about this, but I detect a tell-tale self-tanner whiff, plus there's a non-"Healthy Glow" version) and a pearly bronze shimmer that presumably is responsible for the "healthy glow". $75.
