Posted by Dain, Sunday, November 04, 2007 2:26 AM (Eastern) ![]() One of the trends I do like is how popular The Chic Flat has gotten. They're almost as dressy as heels, with a great deal less bother, though you may find many that skimp on arch support. The only advice I have here is to find one that can be worn with pants AND a skirt... It's funny, but sometimes a shoe that looks gorgeous peeking out beneath the hem of your pants looks out of place on a bared leg and a skirt. (Would a loafer look odd with a skirt? I can't wear loafers for some reason, so instinct says yes, and yet... there is almost something hippie-luxe about the idea.) I think these examples possess that duality, and they're refined and classical yet unique, which can be hard to hit all at once. I currently own a pair of nude suede Repetto ballet flats, to which I've sewed on a large satin bow. Very princessy, and I adore the fit, the proverbial "fits like a glove" (it molds to your foot), but I think I liked my old zebra ballet flats better, may they rest in peace. You wouldn't think it for such an aggressive pattern, but they wore like a neutral, especially delightful with anything navy. Labels: an array ecumenical |
