Beauty Notes: Dr. Hauschka Rose Day Cream Light Review Posted by Dain, Monday, March 03, 2008 7:22 AM (Eastern) ![]() I've been curious about this one. As a whole, I'm a fan of Dr. Hauschka's philosophy, not only the emphasis on organic ingredients and fair trade, but its way of caring for the skin as a living, responsive organism rather than something you must overtreat into submission. But its dependence on peanut oil, possibly the only ingredient that I know to break me out, has rather left me out it. But this new light version of their bestselling Rose Day Cream has no peanut oil, just sesame, apricot kernel, sweet almond, avocado, and wheat germ oils (these are largely on the heavy, nutritive side), as well as the fatty alcohol (cetearyl) and beeswax. Consequently, the Light is quite rich, but unlike the occlusive original (strictly for very dry skin), which just sits on my skin, it absorbs quickly and leaves a drier finish, thanks to the initial flash of alcohol and the inclusion of bentonite (a white clay). There is plenty of rose, in various forms: rose floral water, rose extract (the sixth ingredient, that's pretty high up for something that costly), rosehip extract, and a bit of rose wax. Nevertheless, it does not smell particularly rose-y, just botanical. Hydration, an elegant texture, and a healthy rosy glow: probably the best moisturizer in the line for the majority of skin types (I've tried all three, plus the normalizing oil). It is nothing new, but if you're already a fan, it's decently priced (considering how high face creams go), $39.95 for 1 oz. Ingredients: water, sesame seed oil, alcohol, marshmallow root extract, rose flower water, rose flower extract, anthyllis vulneraria extract, apricot kernel oil, sweet almond oil, cetearyl alcohol, bentonite, beeswax, wheat germ oil, lysolecithin, rosehip extract, fragrance (citronellol, geraniol, linalool, limonene, citral, farnesol, benzyl alcohol, eugenol), rose wax, xanthan gum. March 4, 2008 10:46 AM,
I haven't tried this, but I do use the regular Rose Cream regularly, along with the other Hauschka moisturizers. I found that the key to keeping them from being too greasy is to apply to a freshly misted face, and pat in--using a tiny amount, since they are so concentrated. I love Hauschka products; they really work for me.

This version is well worth trying. Though Dr. Hauschka has always been about the highest quality ingredients, the Light has taken on a more modern, and cosmetically elegant, formulation.
BTW, your book should arrive soon!
