Posted by Dain, Tuesday, March 25, 2008 12:49 AM (Eastern) Hell, I feel that way all the time, a splinter in my sex. Le Labo is one house I've been trying to avoid. It's yet another niche, with every kind of cliché: narrow note focus done with a clever twist, PLUS a number (a damned nuisance), a battalion of celebrity noses, freshly compounded with every order, and of course, the absurd prices ($200 is what I'll spend on parfum, thankyouverymuch). I couldn't give a damn. And yet I now have four samples, thanks to some very nice people, almost without asking. Patchouli 24 is distinctly without patchouli's distinctive bite, that hippie headshop aroma, and instead gleams smoothly as a freshly laid freeway: tar and rubber, straight and synthetic, fast metal cars, the ultimate urban warrior, plus a hint of vanilla. It is that haze of pollution that never lifts from LA. You know how in science fiction movies everyone seems to wear the same silver jumpsuit? That's Patchouli 24. From the same nose who brought you BVLGARI Black (Annick Menardo)... buy Black, you can find it cheap and the bottle's cooler. Labels: beauty notes, le labo, perfume reviews |
