Search for Strawberry Blonde lipstick continues... Posted by Colleen Shirazi, Wednesday, April 04, 2007 2:38 PM (Eastern) Hm. Check it out: New from MAC: Slimshine I know, I know...the Estee Lauder family of brands is doing something very similar to what L'Oreal has been doing for years. They're making almost duplicate products across their brands. The twist here is that these would appear to be identical to the Clinique Butter Shine lipsticks--and at the same price point. Where L'Oreal has a Maybelline, a L'Oreal, and a Lancome one--all at different price points. But who needs the soliloquy? Is one of these lipsticks a look-alike to MAC Strawberry Blonde lipstick? Latest look-alike for MAC Strawberry Blonde lipstick Posted by Colleen Shirazi, Friday, March 02, 2007 12:05 AM (Eastern) Thank you nocturnalgoddess of makeupalley.com. Victoria's Secret Very Sexy Perfect Lipstick in "Love Bite" This is second-hand info, the same as Julie Hewett "Gem Noir" and Nars "Niagara." If it looks anything like the online swatch, it's close...and only a buck more than the original. Why I passed on the rest of the Deneuve collection I got this from the Catherine Deneuve collection, a year ago. Up until now it hasn't been my "go to lipstick," since I was using up MAC Sophisto. Sophisto is used up now though, so Strawberry Blonde has assumed its place. And, the thing is, I'm starting to really like it. And it is, or was, limited edition, so once I've used this one up, I can't replace it. On a philosophical note, I've never been one to stock up on limited edition items. In some cases, it does make sense to do so...I just find it...annoying. If it's that good, why is it limited edition? I usually look around for a look-alike instead. So far, from tooling around on makeupalley.com, I've gleaned two candidates: Julie Hewett "Gem Noir" (this appears to be the discovery of cordysmum) Nars "Niagara" (Satin formula) Gem Noir looks more promising than Niagara; the latter seems pinker, a pretty shade in its own right rather than a true copycat. There was a rumor that MAC Legendary Femme lipstick would prove to be a "re-promote" of Strawberry Blonde, but the pics and reviews I've seen indicate that it isn't. Even if it were though, Legendary Femme itself is limited edition. Labels: julie hewett, lips, lookalikes, mac cosmetics, nars Revlon's Curtain Call--find a look-alike of a discontinued product! Posted by Colleen Shirazi, Thursday, September 07, 2006 4:19 PM (Eastern) This is pretty boss actually. I've seen similar pages...Almay's Can't Find It?, Maybelline's Lost & Found...but this one seems better. Or at least the shades I put in to test it, returned what I know are pretty decent look-alikes. Revlon's Curtain Call page Of course a skeptic might puzzle as to why these items were discontinued in the first place--and seemingly replaced by items next to identical--but hey, a girl's gotta find a copycat of that divine Softstroke Powderliner in Brown Suede, right? beauty, cosmetics, makeup, revlon Labels: lookalikes, revlon Makeup Look-Alikes site Posted by Colleen Shirazi, Friday, August 25, 2006 4:36 PM (Eastern) Got this from another board, check it out: Makeup Knockoffs beauty, cosmetics, makeup Labels: lookalikes |
