Buffy the Vampire Slayer
posted by Colleen Shirazi 2005-05-11 at 1:36 PM (Pacific)

I'm currently in season 6 of this show...they show 2 hours of Buffy every weekday on FX network. I've watched most of them...two episodes got wiped out by Nascar, then I missed another two (forgot to change the tape because of the Nascar)...anyhow, I'm somewhere inside season 6 now.

It's an extraordinary show but unless you see it from the beginning, it's not that easy to follow.

Seasons 5 and 6 so far, imo, are the best. Like Angel, Buffy continued to get better and better and better toward the end.

Unlike Angel though, Buffy is by far the more erotic series. The...romance?...between Buffy and Spike is, hands down, the sexiest thing I've ever seen on television.

The one scene that stands out in my mind is one where Buffy starts visiting Spike in his, ah, crypt (it is a vampire show). In this scene, she walks up to the door of the crypt.

For the uninitiated, the premise of the show is that Buffy is a vampire slayer...someone born with supernatural strength, whose vocation is to kill vampires, demons, &c. There is only one slayer per generation.

In season 1, Buffy moved from L.A. to attend high school in Sunnydale, California, which lies atop a "hell mouth"--a gateway from hell--so poor Sunnydale is fraught with evil creatures. Buffy's job is to go out on patrol every night, armed with wooden stakes and other weapons, to a certain graveyard. When the vamps come up out of the ground, Buffy fights them--quite spectacularly--and dusts them.

It's at night, naturally enough, and Buffy is supposed to be out on patrol. Inside the crypt, Spike senses that she is there. He goes to the inside of the same door and starts touching it.

Buffy is deciding whether or not to go inside the crypt. So it is these two characters, both touching the opposite sides of the door... Buffy decides against going in, and turns and walks away.

I've never really seen anything like it.
