Satellite Padparadscha (annoying name to write out, even amongst all the accents that litter perfume names) is a brazen, hyperbolic sandalwood, entirely unabridged. Its intensity is heightened to a fiery pitch with amber and cedar, one for warmth and the other for fuel, crackling with spices like juniper and pepper. For all that it blazes on the skin, Padparadscha is very well balanced, and thus restrained in some sense, as a tiger might be restrained by his cage, while Santal de Mysore is the predator loose in the jungle. It does soften into something more approachable in its drydown, but I enjoy all its stages, and look on its aggression with a favorable eye. And I'm not even a sandalwood girl. It is close to what I am looking for in my hunt for the perfect oriental, but there is no, er, what I call "perfume kismet".
