I picked this up on a bit of a whim. My usual MAC Blot pressed powder was running low, and I really didn't feel like driving all the way out to the mall to enjoy the dismal customer service at the MAC counter.
This is not as good as MAC Blot pressed, as far as sheer ability to blot oil. I'm no great fan of MAC (and I see they're charging $21 now for Blot), but Blot is one of their genius products.
Hence, I doubt I'll repurchase this Zia powder, but it's not so bad I won't use it up. It's decent. It does blot oil, pretty much all day, better than most other powders I've tried (Dior comes to mind). It doesn't have annoying sparkly particles, and doesn't darken toward the end of the day. It doesn't have that weird orange tendency.
It has more coverage than MAC Blot, which isn't a plus for me, but would be for someone seeking that in their powder. It's really quite matte and you have to be careful applying it; too much is too much.
The shade I got was "Smoky Quartz," which is a shade more tan than my MAC Blot "Medium." (The Zia "Quartz" shade would probably be more similar.) It's fine with me now as I have a slight tan, enough to make Blot "Medium" a touch too light.
Zia powder is unscented, and comes with the usual little puff. You seem to get a fair amount of product for your dollar, but then it seems to be going faster than Blot (each compact of the latter lasts me more than a year).
