Western Digital external hard drive won't power down on Windows XP?
posted by Colleen Shirazi, Monday, December 19, 2005 at 12:04 PM (Pacific)

I have one of these...on Windows 98, it generally shut down right away after I tapped its little shutdown button.

I tried it out on Windows XP and the thing wouldn't just power down anymore? I got a tip over here: Amazon.com user review.

So, you have to hold the shutdown button down for five seconds. So far, so good.
