Need your good thoughts and positive energy....ro new
#74936 - 05/09/06 04:46 AM

I'm packing up my house. The house I own now was my parent's and it's been in my family for 30 years. I have to sort through and pack up every single item in it.

I'm moving to my Boston apt. on May 17. Then, I'm calling in an auctioneer to see what they will take and sell. Then, I have to get rid of what is left over. I'm also putting some stuff into storage. The house needs a good cleaning and some repairs.

This is a lot to do and sometimes I feel a bit overwhelmed. I also know that I get emotional when I think about selling the house and never coming back here. I've been walking into this house for 30 years and it's my home. This is very hard to do but I know it's necessary.

I appreciate any good thoughts you can send my way.

Good thoughts for you new [Re: WandaC]
#74941 - 05/09/06 02:08 PM

I'm sure you'll love living in Boston. You'll be closer to ballet and museums, right? That was so great when I moved last year; it's so easy to go to the theatre and concerts now. I still miss my old apartment now and then, just because it was so well planned (although this one is the same size). I'd lived there for 7 years and it was the first home I bought myself.

What helped me immensely was having movers doing everything for me. It wasn't cheap, but it was so worth the money. I get expecially emotional when I have to pack things up. And I wouldn't have had the boxes and wrapping paper that they had. So especially the packing part was helpful to me. My apartment was two rooms, kitchen, bathroom, some attic space, and it took one guy one full day (9 hours) to wrap everything and pack it into boxes. Unpacking in my new home was a delight; I was so happy and almost touched to see how someone had wrapped up all of my belongings so it could be moved safely.

The biggest cost was the actual moving, when three guys worked almost an entire day to get my things here. I also let them clean my old apartment. But the one thing that made the biggest difference was having everything packed for me. A really good side-effect was that the moving company wanted their boxes back after a few weeks. So no unopened boxes standing around here; I've emptied them all!

I'll be thinking about you, Arabella! I hope you have the energy and help to get you through the process smoothly. I'm sure you won't regret moving to the big city.

Here are some good vibes -> {{{{{good vibes}}}}}

That is a big project. Wondering if you know someone who would be willing to help out, at least with the cleaning if not some of the packing...

Good luck with the packing up, moving, and cleaning. I'll be thinking of you. I can't imagine how hard it must be to leave your home of so long. My parents still live in the house I grew up in and I can't imagine another family living there...

knowing that after I've sold it, I can never come here again. It was the last thing left of my parent's.

Arabella,
Sending good energy to you. I know it's hard but try to think of this as the beginning of better times. You still have all your memories inside you, they will always be there. Boston is a very nice city. Do you have a job, or anyone there. I haven't been on here in a while I feel out of the loop a little. We are all here for you. You can write me if you want to chat.
