I went to Michaels (craft store) yesterday and came home with 4 paint(ing) brushes to use for makeup application. I spent a grand total of $25 for the brushes, two small mixing bowls and a small palette that can use to mix my e/s in when I want to apply them wet.
I've used 3 of the 4 brushes, I like them all but I am THRILLED with one of them. Its the Lowell-Cornell XXL Round brush. Supposedly it is comparable to a MAC #150 brush. I've never used a MAC brush, so I have no idea if that is true or not. However, this brush ROCKS. I use it to apply my BE Mineral Veil and it is just amazing! With this brush, the Mineral Veil really does give me that flawless air-brushed look that I've always heard about but have never been able to achieve myself until I used this brush.
Its a BIG brush and the bristles are very, very soft. I have a NARS blush brush (courtesy of very generous gift from Dain) and it is alllllllmost as soft. The NARS one is just a teeny-tiny bit softer. It also has a big long handle that might be a little awkward to use at first, but I rapidly got over it when I saw the results.
It cost $10.79. Michaels almost always has a 40% off one item coupon in the Sunday paper so you could get this brush even cheaper. The also run 30% off sales on their brushes, but I don't know how frequently. Even at full price though, this brush is simply amazing and worth every single cent spent.
(I also bought an angle brush,e/s brush and lip brush and hope to post reviews on them soon.)
I could spend hours at Michael's. I'll have to look at the brushes more closely next time I go.
